FAQ: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the Utah Overland Community (UOC)?
The Utah Overland Community (UOC) is a group of off-roaders, adventurers, and gear enthusiasts who explore Utah’s backcountry together. We provide trail guides, rig setup advice, overland gear reviews, and organize group rides across Utah.
How do I join the UOC private server?
It’s easy — just click the Apply Now button on our site. The private server is where members share real-time trail conditions, plan trips, and trade gear tips. Think of it as a 24/7 campfire chat for Utah overlanders.
Do I need a fully built rig to join group rides?
No. Many of our members start with stock vehicles and learn as they go. Utah has beginner-friendly trails like Five Mile Pass and Skyline Drive that are perfect for testing your setup before committing to big upgrades & when you’re ready for some upgrades, we have plenty of members with crazy rigs too.
What gear do I need to get started?
At minimum: recovery strap, traction boards, a shovel, air compressor, and 5 gallons of water. Check out our Essential Overland Gear Checklist for a full breakdown.
Is UOC only for people in Utah?
No — while we focus on Utah trails, we welcome members from surrounding states (Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Arizona). Many out-of-state members join for our detailed Utah trail reports.
